Isojima
Isojima, located in Honcho, Aomori City, is a Japanese restaurant where you can enjoy local cuisine using fresh local ingredients and a wide selection of local sake.
Many people say, “Aomori has good food,” and that is true; Aomorians born and raised in a land surrounded by four oceans (Mutsu Bay, Tsugaru Strait, Sea of Japan, and Pacific Ocean), where fish, shellfish, meat, vegetables, and fruits are delicious, are fortunate to be able to enjoy freshly caught ingredients.
On this particular day, we ordered assorted sashimi, boiled mizu, horse sashimi, maitake mushroom tempura, ikkyu-nyukon kabocha (pumpkin) tempura, kipper and morokyu (cucumber), and saketoba (dried salmon).
To put it plainly, you will feel every dish tastes twice as good as expected. The level of the ingredients is high, and the simple cooking method that brings out the flavor of the ingredients is wonderful, and when paired with Aomori’s locally brewed sake, the rich flavors spread out again.
Depending on the season, you can enjoy “Togekuri-gani,” a crab that tastes like a chestnut, rock oysters, albacore, and more.
Come and enjoy delicious food in a relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere.
