Tanesashi Coast
The Pacific Ocean coastline stretches southeast of Hachinohe City.
Over a 10-km stretch, it offers a variety of scenery, including flocks of petrels, flowers, grasses of about 650 species, and rugged rocky reefs. It is divided into four major areas: the Kabu-shima area, the Ashigezaki/Osuga Coast area, the Tanezashi Natural Grassland area, and the Okuki area.
In the Kabu-shima area, there is a power spot called Kabu-shima Shrine.
In the Ashigezaki/Osuga Coast area, there is the “Ashigezaki Observatory” with a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean, the “Oosuka Beach” with its “singing sand,” and the “Flowering Shore,” a rare place where beach plants and alpine plants bloom next to each other.
Nakasuga, which is known as a rare place where beach plants and alpine plants bloom next to each other, provides a fantastic atmosphere.
The Tanezashi Natural Grassland Area is a beautiful spot where the blue sea and sky contrast with the grasslands stretching down to the edge of the waves. The open view will make you want to take a deep breath. This area is recommended when you want to be healed by nature.
In the Okuki area, the Torii gate of Iwashima Shrine is famous as the “Miracle Gate” because it was found in the U.S. and returned to the shrine after being washed away by the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
If you take the time to walk along the path, nature will heal your tired mind.
