Aomori Bank Memorial Museum

Hirosaki-shi HISTORY

The Aomori Bank Memorial Hall (formerly the main building of the 59th Bank) is a historical building designated as a National Important Cultural Property in Hirosaki City.

1904, the building was designed and constructed by Horie Sakichi and features a Renaissance-style exterior with a beautiful contrast of white and mint green colors. Originally used as the 59th National Bank, it was relocated for preservation. It is now open to the public as the Aomori Bank Memorial Hall.

Stepping into the Aomori Bank Memorial Hall is like stepping back in time to the Meiji era. The museum retains the atmosphere of the era, with a spacious sales room and a luxurious reception room that recreated the appearance of those days.

One of the highlights of the museum is the beautiful decoration of the ceiling, which is made of gold kinkara-kawakami paper. The exhibition also features old banknotes and coins, giving visitors a glimpse into the history of the bank and local culture.
