Minato Shokudo

Hachinohe-shi FOOD

Two train stops from central Hachinohe Station. Minato Shokudo, located in front of Mutsu Minato Station in Hachinohe City, is a popular restaurant known for its seafood dishes, which use fresh seafood landed locally.

In particular, the signature dish, “Hirame no zuke-don” (flatfish with rice topped with pickled vegetables), has been featured in many media and tourist guides since it won the first National Bowl Grand Prix in the seafood bowl category.
Thinly sliced Hirame (flatfish) dipped in special sauce is beautifully arranged on a bed of rice and served with the yolk of the egg crumbled over the top for a delicious taste. Freshness is the key to Hirame.
It is so popular that customers line up when the restaurant opens at 6:00 a.m.

This dish is a perfect choice for breakfast, especially when paired with Hachinohe’s famous Senbei Soup. I highly recommend trying the half-and-half bowl of rice topped with flatfish engawa. When you’re in Hachinohe, don’t forget to visit the charming Mutsu Minato area!
