Cafe Hebana

Hachinohe-shi LOCAL ACTIVITY FOOD

Cafe Hebana is a community coffee shop in Hachinohe City that was originally loved by the locals as a “Senbei Kissa (tea house).” In 2023, a group of young people in their 20s and 30s, led by Minori Suzuki, who owns Tosenoie, took over the culture and reopened the shop. The name “Hebana” means “see you soon” in the Aomori dialect, providing a place for locals to casually gather and socialize.

Along with a simple menu including coffee for 250 yen, Cafe Hebana provides a space where locals and tourists can spend a peaceful moment. In particular, the cafe focuses on building a community where everyone from the elderly to young people can mingle. It also hosts a “Kodomo Shokudo (meal service for children)” and welcomes foreign tourists. Ms. Suzuki is leading the way in revitalizing the community by embracing the energy of a new generation while honoring the traditional ties of the community.
