Oirase Gorge

Towada-shi NATURE

Oirase Keiryu is a beautiful mountain stream that stretches about 14 km from Lake Towada in Aomori Prefecture to Yakeyama. It is one of the most famous scenic spots in Japan.

Visitors can enjoy seasonal changes, especially in spring when it is fresh green and in autumn when the leaves turn red.

The mountain stream is dotted with famous spots such as Choshi Great Falls and Ashura-no Stream, which are ideal for strolling and hiking. The promenade is well maintained, so visitors can walk through nature and feel the clear streams and waterfalls up close. The guided rooftop bus, which can be booked exclusively by Hoshino Resort Oirase Keiryu guests, is also recommended for getting around while feeling the fresh air.

The Oirase Keiryu is protected for its rich nature and is designated as a distinctive scenic beauty and natural monument of Japan. In winter, visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery of icefalls (frozen waterfalls), making this a spot that shows a different face in each visit season.
