Hachinohe Book Center
Hachinohe Book Center opened in 2016. It is one of the few city-run bookstores in Japan and serves as the central base of Hachinohe, the City of Books.
It offers a wide range of books, including specialized and academic books that are hard to find in general bookstores, works by local authors, and zines produced by individuals. In particular, the library is characterized by its unique shelving based on book themes, with layouts such as “The Universe” and “The End of Life” designed to intuitively attract visitors’ interest.
The museum offers hammocks and reading spaces for visitors to relax and enjoy the books they have purchased or spend time in the café with a drink in hand. They also host regular events and book readings that celebrate our local culture, bringing people together through the joy of literature.
